Hey guys! I've been a bit quiet on the blog front as of late, but i'm back and here's what's happening!
Below is the cover art for two tracks I'll be bringing out soon. What's really exciting about this project though is that I'll be working closely with a games team to come up with an accompanying interactive visual experience for you to immerse yourselves in!
I used to play games a fair bit, and designing sound for games is something I want to get into and learn more about, so for me this role-reversal will be a super interesting bit of insight into that side of the industry.
An idea/concept that I'm looking at is: picture gliding through a tropical-themed world with colour artifacts exploding in the sky in time with the music as you explore. OR maybe the world constructs itself as the song develops, and each element you see in the visual space 'dances' along to the leading elements of the track. Aesthetic-wise, something like Zouassi's work in the colour palette I've designed in my artwork below would be super dope. Anyway I'll update you on that as we develop it!

Another project that I'm working on that I've never done is Sound Design for film! I'll be working with a couple of peers to do a complete sound replacement on a small clip from a feature film. At the moment we're in the planning stages, however it's going to be a lot of fun and we're super excited to get into it! As we go through the stages of the production, I'll be writing up another blog about this specifically and some production techniques for people interested in getting into sound design for other forms of media.
As for other upcoming blogs to expect, I'm going to go into more genre analysis of some of the music I love, show some new production techniques I'm using and maybe one on just some of the cool life stuff I've picked up after 12 months of living away from home!
Finally there's a bunch of unfinished music I'm currently working on. Towards the end of last year I struggled with certain aspects of my workflow, and getting stuck in the rut of not being able to finish tracks - and the ones I did finish were confused with too many ideas pushed into the one arrangement.
This year I want to focus on developing a more viable and efficient workflow that works for me and can translate into live performance much easier. I'll be getting more live gear soon and I can't wait to start creating tracks based around performance. One of the main issues I've come across is my recent work being too busy and confused, this will force me towards the 'less is more' aspect and help me focus on better sound design. I'm confident it will open up my creativity, make grooves and sounds more organically, design a more exciting live show and ultimately write better music!
That's it for now, I'll keep you posted on any new updates!
Lachy :)
